“160,000 Ukrainians have returned from abroad, up to 200,000 may arrive before Easter”, as was reported by the Head of the State Border Guard Service Serhii Deineko on the TV channel 1 + 1.

The Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine noted that since March 16 this year, about 160 thousand of our citizens have returned to Ukraine via all types of border crossing points - air, railway, automobile (bus) and pedestrian.

“Today we have registered a kind of anti-record - only 10,000 citizens crossed the border this day. If in summer, during the holiday season there are 250-300 thousand people a day », - stated the Head of the service.

He added that according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, about 17,000 citizens stated that they intend to return to the territory of Ukraine.

The Head of the Service also noted that on the eve of Easter holidays, about 200 thousand of our citizens can return to Ukraine.

The interview also raised the problematic issue of recent queues at the Polish border.

The Head of the State Border Guard Service stressed that the issue was not about the border guards of Ukraine, but that the queues of our citizens were accumulating on the Polish side. In particular, on the most active day - March 27, 22 thousand of our citizens arrived at the Ukrainian border crossing points (BCPs), when this indicator is usually at the level of 3 800 citizens a day.

He also added that now there are no queues of our citizens who do not have their own transport and cross the state border on foot. "We record the following statistics - if at peak days we process about 450-500 citizens per hour at the BCPs " Yahodyn", "Rava-Ruska"," Krakivets" then today we have 10 to 15 people per hour" , - said the Head of the Border Guard Agency.

Serhii Deineko stressed that the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has a database of citizens crossing the border both of Ukraine. Citizens of Ukraine, stateless persons, foreigners - all get into the database. Among them, during the last 24 hours, two Ukrainian citizens have been identified who have already violated the conditions of self-isolation. The border guards handed over these citizens to the National Police, and reports on the administrative offense were drawn up under Art. 44 Part 3 of the Criminal Code. In general, over the last three days 7 such citizens have been identified.

The Head of the Service assured that the work will be carried out in the future, and the State Border Guard Service will do everything possible to identify those citizens who do not consciously commit to the obligation of self-isolation, which they have voluntarily taken.
